James Cook Languages and Jipka moje jazykovka share a lot more than "just" being language schools. Both brands are part of EDUA Group, a private company focused on the further development of people's skills, and they both share the same values. At EDUA, we're proud to work with excellent teachers. As professionals in the field of education, we are all aware that honing one's skills is a key to success. This is why we provide training for our teachers who then lead their lessons in a highly efficient and productive way. In addition, we share a team of coordinators who can help you solve any problem you might encounter, such as replacing cancelled lessons.
On this webpage, we present all aspects of our work so that you know exactly how we work and what you can expect from us.
Below, you will find a step-by-step description of how language lessons with us work.
How we organize language lessons
Registration for language lessons
The ways you register for your language lessons differ based on each client's preferences. In most cases, we send you an email that includes a link to our registration form. This is how we collect your contact data, learning preferences and time availability.
Language audit
Usually, with the exception of individual courses with Jipka, a language audit is part of the registration process. You receive a link to the online progress test either via email or you will find it in the registration form. Knowing your language level enables us to find the right course for you. This is why we occasionally supplement the online progress test with a phone call language audit.
Start of a course
When starting the language training with us, you will receive the login information to our administrative system Schoolpartner. Please take a look at how you can add this environment to your mobile phone screen (Chrome, Safari), to the screen of your computer or laptop or what to do if you happen to forget your credentials. Once your course is ready, you will receive all the necessary information (course ID, date, teacher's name etc.). You will then find all the information stored in the administrative system.
Language lessons
Throughout your training, a Course Manager responsible takes care of the organizations and administration (contact person at the language school) and our administrative system (our app).
The app
On the main page of our app, you can see the calendar with all lessons scheduled for a given week. Regular lessons are displayed in light blue. In the course section, you will find all the relevant information, such as the schedule of the course, your teacher's contact details, information regarding training options and replacement chosen by your employer, and the contact data of your Course Manager. You can find all manuals for the app in the section Tech Support and FAQ.
Lesson cancellation / How to enter your excuse
You can excuse yourself from the lesson usually 24 hours prior to the lesson at the latest. The only way to do so is to enter the information directly into the app. (You can enter a lesson scheduled for Monday on Friday until 3pm - you can find the company-specific policy in the app, in the course section). A whole lesson is considered cancelled when the last student enters their excuse. Lessons can be, of course, cancelled by the teacher as well. You can find more information in the section D⋅R⋅E⋅A⋅M - System of Effective Replacements .
Replacement date
If a lesson gets cancelled by the student(s), the teacher has 48 working hours to offer replacement dates if they have any available. If a lesson is cancelled by the teacher, they enter the replacement information immediately. In the next 48 working hours, students vote for the best replacement date directly in the app - they enter whether or not each date suits them. If students choose a date, a replacement lesson takes place. You can find more information in the section D⋅R⋅E⋅A⋅M - System of Effective Replacements.
D⋅R⋅E⋅A⋅M - System of Effective Replacements
Unfortunately, it is sometimes impossible for the students and the teachers to find a replacement date that suits all calendars. This is why, if confirmed by the employer, students can attend a lesson from the Language Catalogue (for more information, check the sections D⋅R⋅E⋅A⋅M - System of Effective Replacements and Language Catalogue).
How to dispute your teacher's entry
After each lesson, your teacher will enter the attendance of their students. You can find the Entry overview in the app. If you disagree with the entry, you can enter a dispute.
Methodology
Our teachers follow the EDUA Coach&Practise methodology. You can find more information about its main principles in the section Our methodology.
Learning materials
You can find some great additional learning materials either directly in the app or in the section Learning materials - language corners, T-Room, recommended mobile phone apps etc. In addition, you will find here some tips on more efficient learning and the main guidelines for successful lessons.
Assessment and feedback
The way we assess your progress, as well as the collection of students' feedback on language lessons provided, is always based on an individual agreement with the individual client. You can learn more about what assessment tools we use and why, and how we work with feedback in the section Assessment and feedback.
